4-H Handbook and General Record Sheet

What is the 4-H Handbook?

The 4-H Handbook is your guide to everything you need to know about participating in Carroll County 4-H. It includes information on clubs, projects, events, policies, and resources to help members, volunteers, and families have a successful 4-H experience. The handbook also outlines important dates, project requirements, and opportunities for recognition, awards, and skill development.

Think of it as your go-to reference for navigating the 4-H program, tracking progress, and making the most of all the experiences 4-H has to offer.

4-H Record Keeping

When youth first enroll in Carroll County 4-H, they receive a Green Record Book and a Record of 4-H Achievement card. These tools are used to capture their activities, progress, and accomplishments throughout their 4-H journey. They help youth reflect on what they’ve learned, track skills gained, and highlight experiences that can be valuable for awards, scholarships, and future opportunities.

The purpose of record sheets has been to:

  • Track progress in projects and activities.

  • Provide information for recognition, awards, and scholarships.

  • Document skills, knowledge, and leadership growth.

  • Support youth in managing projects and responsibilities.

While completing a general record sheet is still an option, our program encourages youth and families to focus on the learning, experiences, and skills gained through 4-H, rather than just the paperwork. Members may continue to update their Record of 4-H Achievement card and keep their Green Record Book as a personal reflection of their journey.

Please note:

  • Some projects may still require additional documentation, such as skill cards or project stories. These can be found under the Carroll County 4-H Projects Section.
