Purdue Extension has several upcoming programs that may appeal to you. Here’s a quick recap of some upcoming programs with links to additional information.
Private Applicator Recertification Program (PARP) – Several counties in northeastern Indiana are offering recertification programs before the end of 2025. If you are in or near Whitley or Noble Counties, consider coming to our Dec. 10 program. Features include: how drainage and soil health work together, field tile cameras and cover crops, farm safety reminders, and the 2025 regulatory update. The 2.5-hour program will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Albion, and at 6:00 p.m. in Columbia City. Only one of the programs that day may be attended for PARP credit. Beginning Farmer Program – Are you interested in starting a farm but unsure of how to get started or where you can find help? Are you already a farmer but eager to enhance and refine your goals and objectives and identify resources for assistance? Purdue Extension’s Beginning Farmer Program can help put you on a path to success. There are eight program sessions plus additional optional sessions, supplemental materials, and individual work to complete between sessions. You’ll emerge with a clearer perspective on planning farm projects and moving forward with confidence! After offering this program for several years, the dominant audience tends to be new small farm operators. The virtual program begins Jan. 8 at 7 pm EST and continues through Feb. 26. Each evening’s training is 90 minutes in length. Registration is $90, and the deadline for registering is Jan. 5, 2026. Registration and more information can be found at https://cvent.me/xEyg2g. Slated for January 13, 14, and 15, 2026, mark your calendars now. For additional information, see https://www.tradexpos.com/fort-wayne-farm-show/, or check with your local Purdue Extension office.
Master Gardener Basic Training – This state-wide training will largely be in the virtual format (weekly lessons), but it will also include in-person (or virtual, depending on your locality) “local connection” meetings that reinforce content covered in the virtual lessons. The virtual class kicks off Feb. 3 and continues weekly through May 5 at 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. each Tuesday night. Applications for the program are due in local Purdue Extension offices by Jan. 14. Class fees are based on whether you are taking the class alone or sharing materials with someone in your household.
