Plan to Attend Aug. 22 NEPAC Field Day

Purdue Extension in northeast Indiana will host a field day on August 22 for farmers and agribusiness professionals highlighting current agronomic research. The field day will be held at Northeast Purdue Agricultural Center (NEPAC), 4821 E. 400 S, Columbia City, IN.

The program begins with a series of morning workshops led by Purdue Extension experts. Workshop topics and presenters include:

*State pesticide regulation update—Worker Protection Standard (WPS), by John Woodmansee, Extension Educator.

*Update on weeds in field crops & cover crop termination, by Bill Johnson, Purdue Extension weed science specialist and Brian Overstreet, CCSI agronomist.

*Technology for weed control now & moving forward, by Tommy Butts, Purdue Extension weed science specialist (site-specific tech).

*Crop Scouting with UAV’s (drones), by Bill Horan & James Wolff, Extension Educators, with Purdue Digital Ag Van—Adam Shanks, Digital Ag specialist.

*First Aid on the Farm, by Amy Biggs, Whitley Co. EMA Director, and Ann Kline, Extension Educator. All attendees will receive a free first aid kit.

Following lunch, which is provided by our sponsors, an optional session will be available. Enjoy a weather & market outlook, by Ryan Martin, Farmer Origination Specialist at Louis Dreyfus Company, and Meteorologist at Advantage Weather Solutions.

Participants can receive private applicator recertification program credit. Indiana Corn Marketing Council and Indiana Soybean Alliance will be sponsoring the individual $10 fee. Commercial applicator CCHs and Certified Crop Adviser CEUs are also available.

Registration, refreshments, and vendor visits will be from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with lunch provided. The optional afternoon session will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., or until complete. Admission is free, but registration is required by Aug. 15 to receive a meal.
