Exploring 4-H Foods Project Requirements

  1. You must be in the second grade during the 2025-2026 school year (as of Jan 1, 2026)
  2. You only need to attend Exploring 4-H meetings, not local club meetings.
  3. You do not have to keep records.

 

Exhibit Requirements

  1. As an Exploring 4-H member, you are to learn a new skill or task. You will be making your project to bring to the fair on Tuesday, July 14th between 4 and 7 p.m. Since you are to make this exhibit, we do not expect you to do a perfect job, but to do the best you can.
  2. Your exhibit will be placed in a special “Exploring 4-H” section in the 4-H Exhibit Hall at the fair. Ribbons will be given to everyone who exhibits a project.

 

What to Exhibit

  1. You are to exhibit six (6) no-bake cookies.
  2. Display your cookies by neatly arranging them on a paper plate. Please space the cookies on the plate so it does not look crowded.
  3. Cover the plate of cookies with plastic wrap or place your plate in a plastic bag.
  4. You will need to bring a copy of your recipe on a 5” x 8” index card. Be sure to include all ingredients, directions and your name on the recipe card. Wrap the recipe card in plastic or place it in a plastic bag.
  1. Be sure to put your name, project, and grade (2nd grade), on the official Putnam County 3” x 4” label. Labels will be available through the Extension office for free. Place the label in the lower right corner of your plate.

 

Suggestions

  1. Practice measuring different ingredients so you will learn to measure accurately.
  2. Practice several times making your cookies. It will help you perfect your recipe as well as make your friends and family members tummies happy!

 

Reminder

    Your project is due Tuesday, July 14th . You can bring your project to the “Exploring 4-H” table at the York Automotive Group Community Building at the Fairgrounds between 4 and 7 p.m. After your project is reviewed, you will be rewarded for all your hard work.  You will need to pick up your exhibit on Friday, July 24th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. or on Saturday, July 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
