Beginner’s Guide to Grant Writing is a 2-day in-person workshop hosted by Purdue Extension in counties around the state. At the end of Day 1, participants will have a proposal outline and all the resources they need to develop it into a full proposal. On Day 2, participants practice reviewing a grant proposal, interacting with a funder, and searching for funding.

Workshop participants across the state have leveraged millions of dollars in grant funding to improve the quality of life. Thanks to their success, Indiana is home to new community playgrounds, expanded social services, inclusive arts initiatives, natural resource enhancements, renovated historical buildings, and innovative educational offerings and so much more! Our trainers can also provide customized training to existing groups with a shared focus.

Program Takeaways

Participants completing the 2-day workshop (13 educational hours) receive a certificate of attendance. Check with your professional association to see if CEUs are available.

  • Lunch, refreshments, and materials for both days of the workshop

Purdue Extension’s Community Leadership Program is a 12-module leadership development training program hosted by county Extension Educators, facilitated by trained Purdue Extension staff, and built on research-based curriculum. The program can complement existing community leadership development efforts in Indiana or foster new leadership development in communities where no programming currently exists.

The Purdue Extension Community Leadership Program is an intensive county-based program for individuals who want to improve their local communities by getting more involved in local nonprofit boards, government committees, and other volunteer efforts. While there are many individuals in a community who are willing to give their time and talents to serve the needs of others, sometimes they lack the connections, skills, or confidence to take on leadership roles. This program helps prepare them.

Program skill-building session topics include communication, conflict management, working across cultural differences, and serving on nonprofit boards. Community-focused sessions focus on local government, health, education, economic development, and more!

Building digital skills is a vital component in the effort to expand internet resource availability. The Digital Skills Lessons aim to build these essential skills to help advance quality of life through the resources available through the Internet.
