Southeastern Indiana 4-H Camp 2026 Needs Volunteers - Help Us Make Camp Possible!
Purdue Extension-Swtizerland County is calling on our community to help ensure that the 2026 Southeastern Indiana 4-H Camp can take place as planned. Updated Youth Risk Protection policies require a specific minimum number of approved adult volunteers. Without meeting these requirements, camp cannot be held this year.
Volunteer Goal
For the region, there is a requirement of 38 approved adult volunteers. For Switzerland County, we need at least 5 approved adults.
Your willingness to volunteer - or to spread the word - is essential to creating a safe, memorable, and educational camp experience for our youth.
About the Southeastern Indiana 4-H Camp
The Southeastern Indiana 4-H Camp brings together youth from Brown, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland Counties for a week of hands-on learning, outdoor adventure, and community building.
The camp typically serves youth in grades 3-12, offering:
- Traditional 4-H camp activities like arts and crafts, nature exploration, STEM activities, outdoor recreation, campfire, and more.
- Team-building and leadership opportunities
- Fun, cooperative group-living experiences
- Opportunities for older youth to serve in leadership roles
4-H Camp exists to provide real-life educational opportunities that foster independence, belonging, generosity, and mastery-all core principles of Indiana 4-H youth development.
Volunteer Details
- Camp Dates: June 1-5
- Role of Camp Volunteers: Chaperoning (no teaching required)
- Costs for Volunteers: All lodging, meals, and camp fees are fully covered for volunteers
Adults do not need prior 4-H volunteer experience-we can enroll and approve new volunteers specifically for camp.
Volunteer Deadline
All adult volunteers must be fully entered and approved in the system by March 12. Because approval involves several required steps, we strongly encourage interested adults to begin the process immediately.
Our Extension Office team is ready and available to help volunteers through every step of the application and onboarding process.
How to Volunteer
To volunteer, reach out to the Switzerland County Purdue Extension office by calling us at (812) 427-3152 or email us at hdornbus@purdue.edu.
If you know someone who would be a great mentor, supportive adult presence, or simply loves helping youth thrive, please share this opportunity widely. Community word-of-mouth is one of our strongest tools for making camp possible.
Together, We Can Make Camp Happen
Your support directly affects hundreds of youth across Southeastern Indiana. Thank you for helping us build a safe, inspiring, and unforgettable camp experience for our 4-H members.
