A Message from the Educator

Hello Everyone!
I am Molly Marshall, the Health and Human Sciences Extension Educator working in Jackson County. I am a registered dietitian by training and have many years of experience working in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
The majority of my career has been spent working in a clinical setting in a hospital.  I then transitioned to the public health sector where I found my passion for community-based work. Over the years, I have enjoyed moving to more of a prevention-based focus promoting healthy lifestyles for all.
I am passionate about helping others reach their goals. Working collaboratively with individuals, community-based organizations and all other stakeholders to improve the quality of life for our residents is important work to me. As Purdue Extension educators, we bring university information to the local level to help people strengthen relationships, eat smart, improve health and achieve financial wellness.
Purdue Extension Health and Human Sciences assesses the needs of the community and based on those identified needs, provides educational programming and support to community members, organizations and work with local coalitions.
The 4 pillars of Health and Human Sciences are:
  • Food
  • Family
  • Money - Financial Well-Being
  • Health and Wellness

Eat Smart Live Strong

Are you interested in living a heart-healthy lifestyle? Looking for practical ways to add more fruits and vegetables to your meals while keeping food cost and availability in mind?

Jackson County - Health and Human Sciences helps the community build healthy habits for everyday life. In programs that are offered, you’ll learn how to read and understand nutrition labels, discover simple ways to increase your fruit and vegetable intake, and participate in light physical activity (seated or standing, using the back of a chair as needed).

During these programs, participants will also enjoy a low-sodium food demonstration and sample.
