Youth in 3rd grade to 8th grade interested in learning how Science influences cooking can sign up for: Become a "Foodie" through Food Science program offered by Jefferson County 4-H. Dates for this program are April, 9, 16, 23, and 30 at 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each class is 90 minutes and will incorporate a food science experiment, a cooking lesson and will end with a food tasting.
New for 2018, to exhibit beef cattle, feeder calves, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, meat goats, dairy goats, utility goats, poultry and rabbits, 4-H members must be certified through the Youth for the Quality Care of Animals. This annual program can be completed via online modules ($12) or in-person trainings ($3). This training must be complete by June 1, 2018 in order to exhibit at the county fair.
Do you or a member of your family have diabetes? Is planning meals a real struggle? Jefferson County Extension is offering Dining with Diabetes, a program that may be just right for you. Sessions will begin on Monday, April 9 from 6:30-8:30 pm and continue for the next three Mondays at the Jefferson County Extension Office near the fairgrounds.
