This webinar presents the concept of didactic readers’ theater as an educational intervention to influence social norms in communities. Findings from the multiple award winning Farm Dinner Theater, an R01 research study funded by NIOSH, will be presented. This entertaining format resulted in over half of the participants making changes in their health or safety behavior. Dr. Reed will offer practical guidance on how you can use theater with your agricultural community, present an overview of the free toolkit, and share how agricultural communities are using the theater in their regions, either as free-standing theaters or as a component of other meetings. On- line training for how to use the toolkit and host a theater is currently being developed.

Our Presenter:
Dr. Deborah Reed is no stranger to AgrAbility. She has worked alongside several state AgrAbility programs and presented numerous sessions for the AgrAbility National Training Workshop. Farm Dinner Theater (FDT) is the culmination of her many years of research with farm families across the USA. Dr. Reed currently holds professorships in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment as an Extension specialist (affectionately known as the Ag Nurse) and in the UK College of Nursing. Her nearly 30 years of work with farmers along with her family roots on a Kentucky farm help her offer down-to-earth advice to both farmers and those that provide services to farmers. Dr. Reed and her FDT have been featured in many media programs and in O, The Oprah Magazine in May 2018. The theater project is currently funded through a generous grant from the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation.
A question & answer period will follow the presentation.
