Marshall County Fair Open Class Information Released for 2024

The 2024 Marshall County Fair has upcoming contests for local adults and youth to enter and participate in. Some contests feature cash prizes and some will have ribbons awarded. Read on to learn more on these upcoming events! Events are held at the Marshall County Fairgrounds, 211 W Walnut St. Argos, IN 46563.

During the week of the Marshall County Fair, July 13th – July 19th, community members can enter into the Marshall County Open Class Show! This show features many different projects that adults and children under 3rd grade can enter for a chance to compete against others in Marshall County. Some projects include: “Little Hands”, Christmas at the Fair, Needle Arts, Fiber Arts, Photography, Scrapbooking, Woodworking, Basic Crafts, Fine Arts, Quilts, Food and Food Preservation, Clothing and Sewing, Plants and Flowers, Gardening and more. Projects must be completed and dropped off at the Marshall County Fairgrounds Open Class Building on Friday July 12th, 9A-12P ET. Projects will be exhibited at the Fair until July 18th. Get out the recipe books and try that unique new baked creation then bring it to the Bake-A-Rama on Wednesday, July 17th at the Marshall County Fairgrounds. This contest is open to Marshall Co. residents. Entries will be accepted in the Open Class Building from 9A – 12P with open judging beginning at 12:30P. This year’s categories include cookies or bars, cakes, pies, quick breads or muffins and crisps or cobblers. Cash prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category, as well as the overall Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Safe food preparation guidelines must be observed. Each year the Marshall County Dairy Association sponsors a homemade ice cream crank off. The flavor for 2024 is “Lemon”. This year’s 34th annual crank off will take place on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Check-in is 12:30 – 1:00P ET, with cranking beginning at 1:00P at the Marshall Co. Open Class Building. Recipes should be prepared ahead and be ready for freezing. Contestants may compete as a team or as an individual, but teams are limited to three individuals. All entrants must be finished by 3:00 PM. Prize money is awarded to the winners. Safe food preparation guidelines must be observed. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Full list of rules and entry forms can be found at the end of the Exhibit Guide.
