WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue Small Farm Education Field Day on July 23, co-hosted by the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture and the Purdue Student Farm, will offer hands-on demonstrations and presentations for small farm operators and urban growers.

Attendees will learn from Purdue University and Purdue Extension experts about flower production, high tunnel production and management, integrated pest management, food safety and vertical container farming.

“This field day serves as a gathering place where small farm operators and urban growers from across Indiana come to learn and connect,” said Petrus Langenhoven, Purdue Student Farm director. “The day’s structure fosters the exchange of practical knowledge and the development of meaningful relationships. Year after year, we see participants return home and put new techniques to work on their own farms and gardens. It’s often the smaller, nuanced practices, the kind of details that are easy to overlook, that make the biggest difference in the productivity and long-term sustainability of small-scale agricultural operations.”

Event sponsors and exhibitors are welcome. Please reach out to Lori Jolly-Brown, Extension events and communication coordinator, at ljollybr@purdue.edu with any questions.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  ET at the Purdue Student Farm, 1491 Cherry Lane, West Lafayette, Indiana. A full agenda of the event will be available after May 1 at vegcropshotline.org/purdue-small-farm-field-day

Attendee registration costs $48 and can be completed here. Lunch is not included, but a food truck will be on-site.

If you are in need of accommodations to attend this program, please contact Jolly-Brown at ljollybr@purdue.edu.edu by July 16. If you need an interpreter or translator, please contact Jolly-Brown at ljollybr@purdue.edu by July 16.
