WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The annual meeting for the Indiana Forage Council (IFC) will take place Thursday, March 6, at the Branch Gathering Place + Coffee House in Greensburg.
The meeting will run from 4-8:30 p.m. and includes IFC updates, dinner, an awards ceremony, and a viewing and discussion of “Roots So Deep,” a documentary series about cattle farmers, scientists and sustainable grazing. The optional IFC business meeting begins at 4 p.m. and is open to the public. Dinner will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the program to follow.
“The Indiana Forage Council annual meeting is a great time for forage enthusiasts to gather from across the state and talk about what we love and know: growing grass, legumes and other forages for our livestock to enjoy,” said Elysia Rodgers, an IFC member and agriculture and natural resource Extension educator. “This year, we will view ‘Roots So Deep,’ which will show the thought-provoking work of Peter Byck and the teams of scientists looking at carbon in the soil and how grazing and regenerative soil work is beneficial. We invite everyone to attend and enjoy this time of fellowship together!”
Attendees can register for the event by contacting the Decatur County Extension Office at 812-663-8388 or allen484@purdue.edu by Feb. 27. There is no registration fee, but attendees will pay $20 at the door to cover the meal cost. The Branch Gathering Place + Coffee House is located at 113 N. Broadway St. in Greensburg.
