March Announcements

Purdue day of giving

As we prepare for Purdue Day of Giving, your county's plans for utilizing funds are essential in showcasing the impact of contributions. To gather insights, we've created two quick Qualtrics surveys.

The first survey requests a brief description of how your county intends to use the funds. Your response could feature on Extension’s social media and the state website, driving traffic to your county’s platforms on Purdue Day of Giving.

Share Your Mission

Additionally, share photos of your Day of Giving activities through the second survey. Your images will help illustrate the impact of your contributions and the strength of our Purdue community. Thank you for your support!

Share Your Photos

A few ideas of photos to get ahead of time so they’re ready for the day of:

  • A sunrise in the morning of an iconic scene in your county (farm fields, county parks, city skyline, etc…)
  • If you have children, a photo of them dressed in Purdue gear.
  • Your office holding a Purdue Day of Giving sign. See example here and attached.

Reminder: Think ahead and reach out to donors in your county so they are aware of the Purdue Day of Giving. Here are some examples that you might consider putting in an email or newsletter.

Example 1

“Thank you for attending my recent Extension program on XXXX (you insert the topic). I hope that you found the program impactful and made a difference for you. Would you be interested in helping further the reach of this type of Extension programming by giving to XXXX County on Purdue’s Day of Giving on April 24th insert link. 100% of these funds come directly back to the county to support educational programming efforts.”

Note- If you have a specific project, you are raising funds for or reaching out to 4-H parents make sure to adjust the message accordingly.

Example 2

“I wanted to reach out to share with you an exciting opportunity to help support Purdue Extension in XXXX County. Do you enjoy working with XXXX County and want to give back to support our programs and activities? As part of Purdue Day of Giving, our county Extension office is rallying for support! You can support XXXX County on April 24 at [link]. 100% of these funds will help support our mission being Indiana’s educational partner for life.

The money raised will help to further support innovative and impactful Extension programming here in XXXX County. If you have benefited from an Extension program, this is a great way to help give back so that we are able to continue the great work we do here in XXXX County.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you so much for your consideration in supporting Purdue Extension on April 24.”

An email containing county links will be distributed soon.

A Call for Proposals for educational sessions is open now through Friday, May 10 and is attached to this message. You and your colleagues at the campus and county-based levels are encouraged to submit proposals for Presentations or Roundtable Discussions that highlight the outstanding work you are doing. Proposals on any topic are welcome! This year, the PDC Committee is also looking to offer two content tracks: Personal Development and Program & Project Development. These are described in more detail in the attached file. Proposals are due via Qualtrics by Friday, May 10.

The PDC 2024 website is currently being developed. More information will be added as it becomes available. Please check back for updates!

Evaluation results from the 2023 PDC showed the great value that Extension Professionals place on the in-person opportunity to network with colleagues from across the state, to develop potential new partnerships for future Extension programming, and to gain new insights from in-person professional development. Purdue Extension Administration also places a high value on networking and professional development and is committed to investing in our Purdue Extension Professionals to be in person for two days again in 2024.

We look forward to providing an excellent professional development opportunity for Purdue Extension at PDC 2024
