Fall 2026 Master Gardener Training - Allen & Whitley County

Allen and Whitley county are joining forces for the Fall 2026 Extension Master Gardener Basic Training! 

This training course covers various horticultural topics including ornamental plants, growing fruits and vegetables, soil health, invasive species, plant pests, and much more. The program aims to train volunteers to spread horticultural knowledge throughout the community.

Classes take place in-person in both Allen and Whitley County with sessions led by multiple experts and professionals. Upon completing the course, there will be a written exam to become a Master Gardener Intern. Interns can then volunteer in the community to become Master Gardeners. Note: You must attend classes in both Allen & Whitley county to complete the training.

When: Every Monday evening, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, from September 14 - December 21

Allen County Extension Office

4001 Crescent Ave, Fort Wayne IN

Nov. 2 - Dec. 21 classes:

Whitley County 4-H Center on Whitley Co. Fairgrounds

680 W. Squawbuck Rd., Columbia City, IN

Cost:  $180.00, which covers all classes and a printed manual

 

Allen County Scholarship Opportunity: We are excited that the Allen County Master Gardener Association has a scholarship opportunity this year to cover the cost of the course for someone who otherwise may not be able to take the training and become a Master Gardener in Allen County. To apply for the scholarship, please complete the attached scholarship application and either email it to Cora Hill at hill272@purdue.edu or drop it off in-person at either Extension offices. The Allen County Scholarship is only open to those who intend to become Master Gardener volunteers in Allen County. Scholarship applications are due by August 31st. The scholarship recipient will be notified via email by September 3.

 

Applications are due to either the Allen County Extension Office or the Whitley County Extension Office by August 31st, 2026. Please bring your I.D. with your application. Registration will close on September 7, 2026.
