Exploring 4-H Photography Project Requirements
- You must be in the second grade during the 2025-2026 school year (as of Jan 1, 2026)
- You only need to attend Exploring 4-H meetings, not local club meetings.
- You do not have to keep record sheets.
Exhibit Requirements
- As an Exploring 4-H member, you are to learn a new skill or task. You will be making your project to bring to the fair on Tuesday, July 14th between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Since you are to make this exhibit, we do not expect you to do a perfect job, but to do the best you can.
- Your exhibit will be placed in a special “Exploring 4-H” section in the 4-H Exhibit Hall at the fair. Ribbons will be given to everyone who exhibits a project.
What to Exhibit
- You should exhibit a 22” by 28” poster. The poster should be mounted on material that provides a stiff backing (preferably not plywood). It should also be displayed horizontally and titled “Photography.”
- On the poster display five pictures taken by you. Each picture should have at least 4 colors.
- Be sure to put your name, project, and grade (2nd grade), on the official Putnam County 3” x 4” label. Labels will be available through the Extension office for free. The label is to be placed in the lower right corner of your poster.
Suggestions
- Take several pictures of flowers, animals, people, buildings, etc.
- You do not need a professional camera to take pictures. The disposable cameras or cell phones work just fine.
- You can start looking for supplies for you project at your local Wal-Mart store.
Reminder
Your poster is due Tuesday, July 14th between 4 and 7 p.m. You need to bring your poster to the “Exploring 4-H” table in the 4-H Exhibit Hall of the York Automotive Group Community Building at the fairgrounds. After your project is entered, you will be rewarded for all of your hard work. You will need to pick up your exhibit on Friday, July 24th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or on Saturday, July 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
