Exploring 4-H Farm Animal Project Requirements
- You must be in the second grade during the 2025-2026 school year (as on Jan 1, 2026)
- You only need to attend Exploring 4-H meetings, not local club meetings.
- You do not have to keep records.
Exhibit Requirements
- As an Exploring 4-H member, you are to learn a new skill or task. You will be making your project to bring to the fair on Tuesday, July 14th between 4 and 7 p.m. Since you are to make this exhibit, we do not expect you to do a perfect job, but to do the best you can.
- Your exhibit will be placed in a special “Exploring 4-H” section in the 4-H Exhibit Hall at the fair. Ribbons will be given to everyone who exhibits a project.
What to Exhibit
- You will exhibit a diorama, no bigger than a 10” by 16” shoe box. Highlight the farm animal of your choice, including its shelter, food & environment.
- Exhibit with your diorama, an 8 1/2” x 11” sheet of paper, with a summary written by you about your animal, its care and what purpose it is raised.
- Be sure to put your name, project, and grade (2nd grade), on the official Putnam County 3” x 4” label. Labels will be available through the Extension office for free. The label is to be placed in the lower right corner of your shoe box or paper.
Suggestions
Visit a farm, talk to friends with the animal you choose or research the animal of your choice via library or internet.
