Assistive technology at AgrAbility Expo

Expo features assistive technology for agriculture

Assistive technologies are critical for the success of farmers with disabilities and other functional limitations. As the average age of farmers increases, more producers can benefit from these tools. However, many people are unaware of the types of technologies available, and few have experience using them.

To respond to this need, Purdue’s Indiana AgrAbility Project, in cooperation with Huntington University and nonprofit partner Easterseals Crossroads, is sponsoring a full-day assistive technology expo Nov. 15. The event will offer experiential learning opportunities and training with assistive technology as well as a farm visit.

The expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Huntington University campus. Admission is free, but registration is required by Tuesday, Nov. 12. Attendance is limited to 70 people. Visit https://www.purdue.edu/engineering/ABE/inagrability/at-expo/ to register.

This event is geared toward Extension professionals, vocational rehabilitation counselors and their area supervisors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and AgrAbility staff members.
