County Project: Gift Wrapping

Description: Youth will use creativity while wrapping a gift using a variety of techniques. All arts and craft exhibits must include a 4-H Craft Information Card, 4-H 618A.

State Fair Entries: Newton County project, but 1 entry will be exhibited as Arts and Crafts, General.

Exhibit Guidelines:

  1. Packages wrapped for exhibits should not contain any articles. Tape must not show
  2. Purchased bows will not be accepted.
  3. An overall champion for each division will be selected.
  4. A 4-Her should enroll in the appropriate level based on the number of years they have participated in the project.
  5. Consider giving a demonstration to one or more friends or 4-H Club, showing techniques of Gift Wrapping.
  6. The exhibit should have a gift tag with the member’s name, club, and grade, as well as the occasion for the gift.

Level 1 (1-3 Years in Project)

Exhibit: The 4-Her may select one (1) of the suggestions listed below. The member must increase difficulty each year. Be creative with their design.

Level 2 (4-6 Years in Project)

Exhibit: The 4-Her may select one (1) of the suggestions listed below. The member must increase difficulty each year. Be creative with their design.

Level 3 (7-10 Years in Project)

Exhibit: The 4-Her may select one (1) of the suggestions listed below. The member must increase difficulty each year. Be creative with their design.

Suggestions for Exhibits (any may be exhibited for any level as long as the 4-Her increases difficulty and skill each year):

  1. Wrap a rectangular/square box with a handmade bow (suggested for Level 1).
  2. Wrap a gift with material besides that of commercial gift wrapping paper (suggested for Level 2).
  3. Wrap as well as incorporate a non box item in a creative design. Examples include a diaper, umbrella, ball, etc. (suggested for Level 3).
  4. Wrap a package that can be opened with the inside being decorated and presentable (suggested for Level 2).
  5. Create a tiered design for a gift (suggested for Level 2).
  6. Wrap an odd shaped and/or sized containers (suggested for Level 1).
  7. Be creative by drawing or crafting a design on material you wish to use as wrapping paper (suggested for all Levels).
  8. Wrap a cylinder-shaped package (suggested for Level 2).
