Create Your Own Thing

GUIDELINES:
1. Refer to the poster and general display guidelines.
2. This project is open to any age 4-H'er who has a special interest in an area which is not
included in an existing 4-H project. It is a great opportunity to "do your thing." See project
manual for details.
3. Be sure to enroll in the project on 4-HOnline and enter exhibit information into FairEntry by
designated date.
4. For personal safety, do not include personally identifiable information such as mailing address
or phone numbers on posters/displays/exhibits.

PROJECT JUDGING CRITERIA:
1. Appearance – attractive in color and decoration
2. Workmanship – neat and clean
3. Function and/or decorative quality of this item
4. Creativity in design and/or materials
5. Overall appeal of project
6. Exhibits cannot exceed 28” x 36” (no height restriction).
EXHIBIT CLASSES:

Level 1: Grade 3 thru 5 (suggested)
Exhibit your create your own thing project. You may show, in any way you like, what you have
accomplished in the project. Your project record sheet should accompany exhibit. Exhibits cannot
exceed 28”x36”. If larger than that size, it will not be exhibited during the fair. You may display
a photograph of the project with a notebook (if any). Highly recommended to provide protective
covering for your project, but not required (i.e. plastic covering, display box, etc.).

Level 2: Grade 6 thru 8 (suggested)
Exhibit your create your own thing project. You may show, in any way you like, what you have
accomplished in the project. Your project record sheet should accompany your exhibit. Exhibits
cannot exceed 28”x36”. If larger than that size, it will not be exhibited during the fair. You may
display a photograph of the project with a notebook (if any). Highly recommended to provide

Level 3: Grade 9 thru 12 (suggested)
