Our Community Garden - New Albany

Our Community Garden

Our Community Garden was established in the Spring of 2021. It is located at the Floyd County 4-H Fairgrounds in New Albany, IN. It started out with the installation of a shed and 30 raised garden beds. A rock ADA compliant pathway and a six foot fence were also installed to further benefit the space. Garden beds were rented by community members but also by various groups such as Let Us Learn, Floyd County Master Gardeners, and the Purdue Extension Floyd County Office to either grow food for themselves or to donate to local food banks.

In the 2023 garden season, Our Community Garden donated fresh produce from designated donation beds to Hope Southern Indiana food pantry, thanks to the efforts of our wonderful Master Gardeners. Other garden tenants also donated their bounty as well. Seven new raised beds were added to the garden, and were filled with flowers, fruit, and more veggies.

In 2024, Purdue Extension Floyd County was awarded a Growing Together Grant from Purdue Extension's Nutrition Education Program to further the accessibility goals of our garden. Join us in the garden to learn more!
