Leadership and Citizenship
Citizenship is one of the three mission mandates of the 4-H program along with healthy living and science. Responsible citizenship and leadership are two of the targeted life skills of 4-H. 4-H values the development of well-informed, engaged citizens capable of leading themselves, their clubs, their state, their country, and their world. Therefore Indiana 4-H offers projects specifically designed to foster experiential learning in Leadership and Citizenship areas. Projects such as entrepreneurship, genealogy, Jr. Leaders, and leadership encourage such development through educating on ancestral documentation, business practices, club officer roles and responsibilities, and engaging in community service and service-learning projects.
There is no limit to the number of projects youth can sign up for, however, we suggest starting out with one or two your first year.
