Healthy living is one of the three mission areas for 4-H alongside citizenship and science. 4-H promotes the healthy physical, mental, and emotional development of individuals through all of the three mission areas as it encourages youth to be actively involved in experiential learning and social environments. Specifically projects such as ATV safety, child development, personality, and shooting sports engage students in hands-on education. Whether it be learning about the right-sized ATV, teaching the food pyramid to younger children, creating a mind map for yourself, or practicing the responsible and safe operation of firearms students are developing skills to make healthy lifestyle choices in the wide array of Healthy Living projects.
There is no limit to the number of projects youth can sign up for, however, we suggest starting out with one or two your first year.
