Complete two activities in the handout for your level plus the project record sheet.
Exhibit General Rules
The recycling project is based on the 4 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover) and should involve at least one of the following guidelines:
- The material is reshaped from one form to another, or
- The material is reprocessed from one form to another, or
- The material is redesigned into a different type of product.
Projects will be judged based on originality, creativity, and the exhibitor’s use of discarded, recyclable materials.
4-H’ers should keep in mind that new items purchased specifically for this exhibit defeat the purpose of recycling.
Exhibit Options
Beginner (Grades 3-5)
- Exhibit an article or display made of discarded plastic items. Include a reportexplaining your exhibit, a description of what you used and how you made your project. Photos are welcome.
Intermediate (Grades 6-8)
- Exhibit an article or display made of discarded paper, and/or metal items, including aluminum. Include a report explaining your exhibit, a description of what you used and how you made your project. Photos are welcome.
Advanced – (Grades 9-12)
- Exhibit an article or display made of any discarded items. Include a reportexplaining your exhibit, a description of what you used and how you made your project. Photos are welcome.
