Similar Ingredients, Multiple Meals (SIMM)

Area 8 HHS educators collaborated on the development and delivery of four-page publications once a month on multiple social media pages. Similar Ingredient, Multiple Meals pages focus on a protein and provide at least two recipes using this protein. An in-season produce item is highlighted with nutrient, selection, and storage information. The third page is full of four-five additional recipes using the produce item in season and other side dish ideas to pair with the featured protein dishes. There is usually another section of selection, storage, and food safety tips for the protein or other produce items used in the recipes. Finally, each publication has shared a nutrient, what its role is in the human body, and what foods the nutrient can be found in. Different months utilize different cooking utensils and appliances trying to promote variety while considering practicality
