building stronger Boards
Purdue Extension has launched a new Community Development program! "Building Stronger Boards" is a daylong workshop for community members who want to become more effective in their roles and responsibilities as nonprofit board members. Participants developed their knowledge, skills, and connections with others in the local nonprofit community through interactive discussions and activities.
Purdue Extension works with many prospective volunteers across the state to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence to serve on nonprofit and civic boards. Through our Community Leadership Program, 4-H Volunteer, Master Gardener leadership trainings and more, we help groups to focus on the purpose, structure and process of board activities and coach them through the board development cycle.
Depending on your organization’s needs, Purdue Extension can sometimes assist with facilitating visioning, goal-setting, and strategic planning. We can also help teach you to lead these through the Facilitative Leadership workshop!
Building Stronger Boards is a three-hour, in-person workshop designed to inform community members about their roles and responsibilities as volunteers on nonprofit boards. The program covers the phases of the Board Development Cycle, focusing on board member recruitment, engagement, and renewal. Community members with a variety of board experiences—from novices to seasoned volunteers--will learn from each other during this interactive workshop.
