Changes to Suggested Garden Exhibits
1. With county fair dates and events happening from the first week of June until the end of September, some additional vegetable options were added. No vegetables were removed from the previous version.
a. Added for 2016: Asparagus, Cowpeas, Broccoli raab, Brussels sprouts, Collards, Kale, Peas, Rhubarb, Spinach, Tomatillo
b. To display leaf crops, harvest 10 leaves and bundle them together with a rubber band or string. These vegetables will obviously wilt very quickly and will likely not be able to be on display for a long period of time.
c. These additions reflect vegetables which might be consumed by our diverse clientele or represent current trends in food choices. Again, the addition of these might encourage youth to try something new.
2. The biggest change is the number of required specimens. In most cases the number of required specimens per plate have decreased.
