Partners

Every community has public health challenges that may seem daunting for any one agency to address alone. That’s why we’re here. We think the healthy choice should be the easy choice, so we’ll work with you to help you meet your challenges. And, because we’re grant-funded, all our services are free.

Who is Eligible?

The Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) focuses on reaching limited-resource families and individuals who face the greatest barriers to healthy eating and active living. Our priority audiences include:

  • parents and caregivers of children 18 and younger
  • school-age youth
  • pregnant and parenting teens
  • individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding

NEP can work with any schools who report 50% or more free and reduced lunch rates. NEP serves both rural and urban communities, with special attention to minority populations and others who experience disproportionate health disparities. By equipping these audiences with practical skills in nutrition, food safety, and food resource management, NEP helps families and communities achieve lasting improvements in health and well-being.

Does your organization serve audiences where 50% or more are income eligible for SNAP and/or WIC? If so, you’re more than likely eligible to partner with the Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program.

Common Examples of NEP Partners

  • Community centers
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Food pantries/meal sites
  • Elementary, Middle and High Schools with 50%+ free/reduced lunch rates
  • Farmers markets
  • WIC
  • Work sites
  • Libraries
  • Shelters
  • Hospitals

We’re proud of the work we’re doing with people and communities throughout Indiana. Read about some of our programs below.
