
Kristi Whitacre
Kristi Whitacre is the Purdue Extension Vigo County Director and Community Development Educator.
She provides the community with educational programs and information that can be used to increase community vitality, build leadership capacity, enhance public decision-making, and resolve public issues.
Whitacre earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communications/public relations with minors in journalism and marketing from Indiana State University. She earned her master’s degree in leadership development from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Whitacre brings more than two decades of marketing and public relations experience to her role, previously serving as the spokesperson for a multi-hospital healthcare system where she was responsible for managing all internal and external marketing and public relations functions. During her career, Whitacre has earned several awards and accolades for her writing, marketing execution, customer service, and leadership.
Whitacre is a past president of the Indiana Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Society and served on the board of the local chapter of the American Marketing Association. She is actively involved in many community organizations including the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, United Way of the Wabash Valley, and the Wabash Valley Fair Association.
