A Latino Health Needs & Workforce Assessment study has launched in Clinton County as a collaboration between the Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC), the Purdue Center for Regional Development (PCRD), the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) at West Lafayette, Purdue Polytechnic, the Learning Network of Clinton County (LNCC) and the Mexican Consulate of Indianapolis. A bilingual team of 15 surveyors has been knocking on doors in Frankfort to discover the health concerns of local Latino residents. So far, 288 questionnaires have been completed (264 in Spanish and 24 in English). The data collection will be finished by September 13, and the data analysis will be finished in early October in time to announce the preliminary results to the community during the binational health fair. The binational health fair, to be held on October 11 between 3-8 p.m. at the 4-H building on the Clinton County fairgrounds, is sponsored by the Mexican Consulate of Indianapolis and will host various health workshops, health screenings, and health interventions from Purdue, IU and local community partners.

For more information on the study or its outcomes, please contact Melinda Grismer, the study’s principal investigator (PI) at mgrismer@purdue.edu or (765) 496-6508.
