Five Communities Selected as Semi-Finalists for Generation 5 of the Hometown Collaboration Initiative
The Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs (OCRA) announced on April 6, 2017 that the semi-finalists for Generation 5 of the Hometown Collaboration Initiative (HCI) are Albion, Angola, Cumberland, Washington and Brown County. These communities will host a visit from members of the State HCI team as the next step of the selection process. An announcement on the communities ultimately selected to be part of HCI’s Generation 5 will be made on or before Thursday, May 4.
This initiative is toward energizing self-identified communities of 25,000 or fewer people who aim to develop a new generation of local leaders; promote the launch, survival and growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs; or invest in place through community design, public space developments, local foods, or other quality of life initiatives.
The Purdue Center for Regional Development and Purdue Extension Community Development Program are initiative partners with OCRA for implementing this community capacity building initiative. Also collaborating in as an HCI initiative partner is Ball State University’s Indiana Communities Institute.
