Purdue Extension has several programs of interest coming soon that may appeal to you. Here’s a quick recap of some upcoming programs.

Fort Wayne Farm Show – This yearly event has many features, with plenty of equipment to look at, agricultural-related businesses to consider, and educational programs from Purdue Extension, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and Farm Bureau available. Slated for January 14, 15 and 16, mark your calendars now. For additional information, see https://www.tradexpos.com/fort-wayne-farm-show/, or check with your local Purdue Extension office.

Beginning Farmer Program – Are you interested in starting a farm but unsure of how to get started or where you can find help? Are you already a farmer but eager to enhance and refine your goals and objectives and identify resources for assistance? Purdue Extension’s Beginning Farmer Program can help put you on a path to success. There are eight program sessions plus additional optional sessions of supplemental materials, with individual work to complete between sessions. You’ll emerge with a clear perspective on planning farm projects and moving forward with confidence! The virtual program begins Jan. 9 at 7 pm EST. Registration is $85, and the deadline for registering is Jan. 2, 2025. Registration and more information can be found at  https://cvent.me/2BYd1E. Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Midwestern Farm Women (and Men): A Succession Planning Series – This succession planning program will help your family get motivated for succession planning, communicate about estate and transition planning, consider the financial aspects of estate and transfer plans, and consider the legal ramifications of putting your plan in place. The registration fee for in-person attendance is $60 before Jan. 13 and increases to $75 on or after Jan. 13. A virtual option is available for $75. Master Gardener Basic Training – This state-wide class will largely be in the virtual format (weekly lessons), but we will also have regional in-person “local connection” meetings that reinforce content covered in the virtual lessons. The virtual class kicks off Feb. 4 and continues weekly through May 6, with in-person bi-weekly local connection meetings. Applications for the program are due in local Purdue Extension offices by Jan. 13. Class fees are based on whether you are taking the class alone, or sharing materials with someone in your household.
