Learn Best Practices at Pond & Fish Management Workshop

Learn how to get the best out of your fishing pond at Purdue Extension’s Pond & Fish Management Workshop on May 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Whitley County Ag Museum (on the grounds of the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds), 680 West Squawbuck Road, Columbia City, IN. The Ag Museum has a windmill near the front door.

The public is invited to learn from two of Purdue Extension’s most knowledgeable Extension Educators on pond management and fish management. David Osborne, Extension Educator in Ripley County, and Jonathan Ferris, Extension Educator in Wayne County, will be sharing their training and experience.

Subjects to be covered include understanding the pond ecosystem, managing aquatic vegetation, pond maintenance, fish species best suited to Indiana ponds, fish stocking rates, and fish population management.

Anyone may attend, but landowners with ponds should find the information particularly helpful. Emphasis will be placed on managing ponds for fish.

To register, complete online registration by May 10 at: https://purdue.link/pond-fish-public. Alternatively, you may call the Purdue Extension office at 260-244-7615 and give us your name, phone number, and email address. The workshop is free.
