Marshall Co. PARP Spring Meeting

Marshall Co. Spring PARP Meeting

Purdue Extension Marshall County will be hosting a spring Private Applicator Recertification Program (PARP) meeting on Monday March 25, 2024 9AM – 11 AM ET. The meeting will be held at the Marshall County Extension Office 112 W Jefferson St. Room 304, Plymouth, IN 46563 and will cover the following topics: Railroad Crossings, Utility Wires and Left of Center, Storage Tank Selection, and 2024 Worker Protection Regulatory Update.

Within a five-year period, a private applicator has the option of attending 3 recertification programs hosted by a county Extension educator. Recertification programs are at least two hours in length on fertilizer and/or pesticide-related topic(s). Each program will also include an approved regulatory topic. A private applicator can attend and receive credit for a recertification program in any county, not just their home county.

Private applicators require 3 meeting credits every 5 years to keep their license current. In October of the expiration year printed on the private applicator permit, the Office of Indiana State Chemist (OISC) sends a letter to applicators whose permit expires December 31 of that year. The letter includes a permit form to complete and a fee to renew. When the completed form and fee are received, OISC sends a new permit for the next five years.

Dr. Fred Whitford, Coordinator, Purdue Pesticide Programs, and Brieanna Slonaker, Ag and Natural Resource Educator in Marshall County will be hosting this meeting. Fred has served as the Coordinator for the Purdue Pesticide Program since 1991, has authored more than 300 publications and has become a popular speaker with more than 5,000 presentations given throughout the United States. Fred has also written several books including The Complete Book on Pesticide Management, Science, Regulation, Stewardship and Communication.

To register for this meeting contact Purdue Extension Marshall County at 574-935-8545 or email brieanna@purdue.edu.  There is no cost to attend and PARP credits are sponsored by the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Corn Marketing Council. Individuals that are interested in receiving PARP credit for this meeting must bring in their PARP License number.
