State Fair Entries:
A county may submit a total of four state fair entries, one entry per level.
** Fair Entry – You MUST register your 4-H project in Fair Entry if you plan to exhibit at the 4-H Fair. See page 21! **
For each exhibit option:
Poster: See poster guidelines.
Binder notebook: Identification label on front of binder giving name of 4-H member, club, grade, and year in project. Title page inside binder naming activity (or activities in Levels C & D). Pages of activity and explanation to follow title page. Photographs are helpful to show the activity being used or assembled.
Optional: Plastic sheet protectors, page decorations, binder cover decoration, etc.
Display: May be tabletop or floor style, not to exceed 36” x 36” x 36” (display may include item(s) made in the activities you completed this year). Must be self-supporting to be viewed by the public.
LEVEL A (Grades 3-4)
Suggested learning experiences: Complete at least 3 activities, each from a different chapter. Within the 2-year period for this level, you should have completed at least 6 activities, and at least 1 activity from each of the 5 chapters in the project manual.
Choose one of the following to exhibit:
- Choose one activity that you completed in this level. Design a 22” x 28” poster or a binder notebook that shows or tells what you did with this activity.
- Create a display no larger than 36” x 36” x 36” using one of the activities from your project manual. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on page 40 of the Child Development Manual. Use a 5” x 8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.
- Action demonstration.
LEVEL B (Grades 5-6)
Suggested Learning Experiences: Complete at least 3 activities, each from a different chapter. Within the 2-year period for this level, you should have completed at least 6 activities, and at least 1 activity from each of the 5 chapters in the project manual.
Choose one of the following to exhibit:
- Choose 1 activity that you completed in this level. Design a 22” x 28” poster or a binder notebook that shows or tells what you did with this activity.
- Create a display no larger than 36” x 36” x 36” using one of the activities from your project manual. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on page 40 of the Child Development Manual. Use a 5” x 8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.
- Action demonstration.
LEVEL C (Grades 7, 8, 9)
Suggested learning experiences: Complete at least 3 activities each year, each from a different chapter. Within the 3-year period for this level, you should have completed at least 9 activities, and at least 1 activity from each of the 5 chapters in the project manual.
Choose one of the following to exhibit:
- Design a 22” x 28” poster based on 1 of the activities you completed in your manual or one that promotes physical, emotional, or cognitive skills.
- Display a binder notebook that includes the information from one of the activities you completed this year.
- Create a display no larger than 36” x 36” x 36” using 1 of the activities from your project manual or one that promotes physical, emotional, or cognitive skills. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on page 40 of the Child Development manual. Use a 5” x 8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.
LEVEL D (Grades 10, 11, 12)
Suggested Learning Experiences: Complete at least 3 activities each year, each from a different chapter. Within the 3-year period for this level, you should have completed at least 9 activities, and at least 1 activity from each of the 5 chapters in your project manual.
Choose one of the following to exhibit:
- Design a 22” x 28” poster based on one activity you completed in your manual or one that promotes physical, emotional, or cognitive skills.
- Display a binder notebook that includes the information based on one of the activities you completed this year.
- Create a display no larger than 36” x 36” x 36” using one of the activities from your project manual or one that promotes physical, emotional, or cognitive skills. Complete an Activity Card and attach it to the exhibit. A sample Activity Card is on page 40 of the Child Development manual. Use a 5” x 8” index card or larger cardstock to create your card.
