Recommended Activity - Youth in Consumer Clothing may participate in the Public Fashion Revue during the 4-H Fair.

Additional Notebook Suggestions

  • Use a 3-ring notebook.
  • Use the same notebook for all years.  Add each year to the same notebook.  Divide each year so the judge can easily find.
  • Include pictures of your outfit.  This will help the judge match the person to the notebook.
  • Do neat work and be creative.  The notebook is an important part of the county exhibit and is what will be on display at the State Fair.

Exhibit Requirements

 

Exhibit Introduction 

All posters, notebooks, and display boards must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained, giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H members exhibit. This reference list should/might include web site links, people and professionals          interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be attached to the back of a        poster or display board, be the last page of a notebook, or included as part of the display visible to the public. A judge is not to discredit an exhibit for the manner in which references are listed. 

**For personal safety concerns, notebooks exhibited should only contain name, county, grade, level and club, and no personally identifiable information such as mailing address or phone number. 

  

Level: Beginner

Exhibit Requirements 

  1. Complete one activity from each group in the manual. Write your results or answers in a   Label each activity. This will help you talk to the judge easily. 
  2. Help purchase an item of clothing that you'll wear with other clothes in your wardrobe. Examples might be slacks, blouse, jeans, shirt, sweater, or sweatshirt. Choose an accessory to go with your purchase. You might buy shoes, sweatband, belt, jewelry, or socks. 
  3. Model your purchases. Tell the judge about them, what you learned, and about the activities you completed.   Take your manual and notebook with you because they will help you talk with the judge. 

 

Level: Intermediate

  1. Complete one activity from each group in the manual. Write your results or answers in a   Label each activity. This will help you talk to the judge easily. 
  2. Purchase and accessorize a casual or school outfit.

You may purchase accessories or select from items you already own.

  1. Model your outfit. Tell the judge about your purchases, what you learned, and about the activities you completed. Take your manual and notebook with you because they will help you talk with  the judge. 

  

Level: Advanced 

Exhibit Requirements 

  1. Complete one activity from each group in the manual. Write your results or answers in a   Label each activity. This will help you talk to the judge easily. 
  2. If a member has completed all activities in the manual in prior years, the member is to consult with their extension educator, leader, or mentor to create an activity. 

When assembling the exhibit notebook be sure to include a note to the judge explaining how the  activity was determined and the intended objectives. 

  1. Choose an outfit and accessorize it. You may purchase or select from items you already own. 

Model your outfit before a group. Tell them about your activities in this year's project and how    you plan to use this year's purchases in your future wardrobe. Take your manual and notebook with you because they will help you talk with the judge.
