September Announcements

youth protection

Many thanks to each Extension professional as we work through updates to the youth protection process!

The new POMP-X (Protection of Minors Portal – Extension) has been in operation since Sept. 20. Many have used it very successfully. A few glitches have been identified and reported. Some have been fixed; some remain to be fixed by Ideal-Logic. POMP-X is available at: https://apps.ideal-logic.com/POMP-X

Updates have been made to part of the youth protection webpage on the Purdue Extension Hub: https://extension.purdue.edu/hub/youthprotection/. Other updates will be made in the near future.

County 4-H educators are registering their annual county 4-H program for the 2024-2025 year in POMP-X. That process, to be completed prior to the opening of the new 4-H program year on Oct. 1, is moving along very well.

Additional youth programs in all Extension program areas can also be registered in POMP-X. As questions arise, please ask puextyouthprotection@purdue.edu for assistance.

Youth protection trainings continue to be available in Ideal-Logic for both program director and program staff: https://www.purdue.edu/ethics/ed-training/youth.php. Please be sure to complete these trainings using your Purdue career account.

Purdue CARET

Purdue CARET is a dedicated group of Indiana residents committed to the power of research and education from Purdue. The Purdue Council for Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching (CARET) strongly supports Purdue Extension’s mission to translate research into practical, impactful programs for communities across the state. Above all, Purdue CARET serves as a powerful advocate, promoting the significance and influence of Purdue agriculture to county officials, state legislators, members of Congress, and other key decision-makers.

Purdue CARET members play a vital role in helping the organization achieve its goals. Some ways that educators and specialists can support Purdue CARET include:

  • Share success stories: Highlight local success stories to demonstrate the impact of capacity funding and research-driven programs.
  • Recruitment efforts: Identify stakeholders passionate about advocating for Purdue agriculture, research, Extension and teaching.
  • Communicate local needs: Ensure that local priorities are heard at regional and state levels by participating in Purdue CARET efforts.
  • Engagement: Work closely with county Extension directors and area directors on PURDUE CARET initiatives.

If you're interested in learning more about supporting Purdue CARET efforts in your county or region, schedule a meeting with your county Extension director and area director to explore how you can get involved. Visit the Purdue CARET website to learn more!
