Environmental Planning AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Short Course
This free online course covers core concepts of planning and community engagement as they relate to our shared environment, renewable energy trends, and climate change. Upon completion of the course, participants receive a certificate.
This four-module asynchronous short course provides free education on Environmental Planning, Renewable Energy Planning, Climate Change and Planning, and collaborative Environmental Planning through Community Engagement. The course includes access to several topical videos and dozens of extension publications and external resources.
Participants will understand the background and definition of environmental planning, be able to recognize tools and strategies available to Indiana communities for environmental planning and understand smart growth strategies.
Participants will be able to describe issues related to solar and wind energy implementation in Indiana and will review resources that support solar and wind planning efforts.
Participants will learn about past trends and future projections in climate and how they pertain to planning efforts, recognize adaptation and mitigation strategies for communities, and review resources related to local climate change planning.
Participants will be able to describe the background and definitions related to collaborative environmental planning and recognize tools, strategies, and processes available to Indiana communities to conduct inclusive planning, and review resources that support local collaborative environmental planning efforts.

Step 1: Create an account here: https://www.eventreg.purdue.edu/ec2k/SignInPick.aspx -- click “create a new account”
Step 2: Check the email address you used to create the account and follow the instructions to create a new password
Step 3: You will be automatically logged in after creating an account, click “catalog”
Step 4: Select Agriculture
Step 5: Select “Environmental Planning and Community Engagement Short Course / 202x
Step 6: Click “Add to Cart”
Step 7: Click “Proceed to check out”
Step 8: Enter any missing contact information and click “continue”
Step 9: Review and accept the Terms of Use, and click “Continue”
Step 10: Click “Pay Now” ($0.00)
Step 11: Navigate to Brightspace by clicking here and click “Online Corporate and Non-credit”
Step 12: Enter your email address as your log-in and the password you used in Step 2.
Step 13: You will see Environmental Planning and Community Engagement Short Course / 202x in the “My Courses” section of the screen
