Experience Incubator

Experience Incubator is designed to harness the power of entrepreneurial thought and action to translate 50+ years of experience into the skills and mindset needed to develop a business. Lessons are designed to demystify entrepreneurship and help participants understand how they have been acting entrepreneurially all their lives, be it managing a home, balancing family and career, running a farm, etc.

Purdue Extension will teach a series of interactive workshops to help individuals in the 50+ age range discover their inner entrepreneur and the initial steps needed to launch a business. 

In addition to the workshops, you will be connected to coaching from the Small Business Development Center after completion if you choose to move forward with your business idea.

2024 Course Timeline:

Registration Closes: February 28, 2024 at https://cvent.me/3wba1l

Zoom Sessions 4-5 pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in March.

Session Dates: March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28

Individuals in the 50+ age range who are interested in starting a business for the first time

  2. What is Entrepreneurial Thinking and Acting?
  3. Decoding Your Entrepreneurial History 
  4. Anatomy of an Idea
  5. Building Your Brain Trust
  6. Branding that Brings Results
  7. Finance: Common Sense and Cents
  8. Entrepreneurship is a Verb, not a Business Plan – Just Start!

Program Takeaways

Participants will:

  • Demystify entrepreneurship.
  • Understand how you may have been thinking and acting entrepreneurially all your life.
  • Learn to apply past and present experiences to your journey as an entrepreneur.
  • Practice developing your “pitch”.
  • Identify a team to vet your ideas.
  • Explore the difference between branding and marketing.
  • Learn about business funding, loans, and financing.
