Tara is the Extension Educator for Community Development and Health and Human Sciences in Harrison County, where she also resides with her husband and their two daughters.

Tara earned her B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Ball State University. She comes to Extension with over a decade of teaching experience, including having taught an array of courses & topics under the FCS framework. Tara has also devoted much of her time toward many school and community efforts involving youth and adults and has experience in both facilitative programming and event planning through various roles she held while in education.

Prior to Tara’s employment with Purdue Extension, she served as her former school district’s first Community Service Coordinator and was instrumental in the inception and implementation of a corporation-wide community service program that served the Southside of Indianapolis. The program continues today, and she attributes her passion for community-focused endeavors in large part to this role. In her most recent school corporation, she served as a Co-Coordinator for an annual non-profit event aimed at raising funds for a chosen beneficiary within the community.

Tara is passionate about helping others- with a particular interest in developing effective systems that help to achieve desired outcomes. She looks forward to collaborating with community leaders, while also discovering ways to continue increasing leadership capacities for current and future generations.
