Get Your Farm Off to a Great Start with the Beginning Farmer Virtual Program

beginning farmer program

Are you interested in starting a farm, but unsure of how to get started or where you can find help? Purdue Extension’s online Beginning Farmer Workshop can help put you on a path to success!

The goal of this 8-session program is to help new and beginning farmers find success through the creation of a practical action plan. The program helps farmers set goals, identify assets and challenges, and become aware of outside assistance and resources that can lead them toward a successful farming operation. Each participant will be encouraged to explore outside resources, supplemental materials presented in the class, and other resources shared by classmates.

Outside the weekly workshop sessions, you’ll complete individual work to give you a clearer perspective on planning farm projects to make more informed decisions on how to move forward with confidence. Program participants will have the opportunity to hear from Purdue Extension Educators and farmers on a wide range of topics. Although the workshop content can apply to a wide range of farmers, the workshop is particularly useful for beginning farmers with smaller acreages.

Sessions will be held via Zoom on Monday nights from 7-8:30 pm Eastern time from Feb. 5 – March 25.

The cost is $85 per person, due by Feb. 1, 2024. See the program flyer.
