Meet Kristen Fitzgerald- one of our Community Wellness Coordinators! She started with Purdue Extension in 2015. She works with school wellness, community gardens, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the small retail setting.
Where did you go to college and what was your major?
I went to Purdue University and studied Dietetics. I am a registered dietitian.
What was the "aha moment" that got you interested in working with Purdue Extension?
I was interested in working with Purdue Extension because I completed a portion of a dietetic internship with Extension.
What is the app on your phone you can't live without?
The app on my phone I cannot live without is called JustWatch and it tells you which streaming service a movie or TV show is on.
Who inspired you most in your career?
I was really inspired to enter the field of public health by Michelle Obama with all of her work getting kids active and fighting obesity.
What is your favorite restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Nine Irish Brothers.
What do you tell Alexa to play most often?
I most often tell Alexa to play Mt. Joy
What is one word you would use to describe PEMC?
Emerging
It's your last dinner party on earth, you can invite 3 people that are not of blood relation to join you at your table. These people can be alive or dead. Who are they?
Diana Gabaldon who authored a book series I enjoyed, Michelle Obama because I admire her, and Eleanor Roosevelt whom I believe would have interesting stories to share.
Last question, do you believe in ghosts? What about Aliens?
I do believe aliens could exist, but I do not believe in ghosts.
