Here are the requirements for this project:

HORSE & PONY

All 4-H Horses must be entered on the online website by May 15. The Horse ID requirements include a color photo showing all four feet and face. Information on how to enroll will be included in the 4-H Newsletter. 4-H members should completely fill out all information on the online system.

  • Vaccination form will be required and will include the following vaccinations: Eastern and Western Equine Encephalomyelitis, Rhinopneumonitis/EHV type 1 and 4, Equine Inulenza, Tetanus, and Rabies.
  • All 4-H members are required to wear a properly fitted ASTM or SEI standard F1163 (or above) certified helmet whenever mounted, or driving, at a 4-H Horse and Pony event, show, or activity. The 4-H member is responsible to see that this specified headgear is properly fitted with the approved harness fastened in place whenever mounted. Original tags must be present in all approved helmets. This policy was placed in effect during the 2003 4-H program year and applies to all county, area, and state 4-H Horse and Pony events, shows, and activities.
  • Adults riding horses are also at risk of head injury; therefore, adults are also strongly encouraged to wear properly fitted, certified helmets when they are riding at any 4-H sponsored activity/event so that they will serve as role models of safe behavior, as well as protect themselves.

Poster Exhibit Requirements: Poster will be judged at the 4-H Horse Show.

All posters, notebooks, and display boards must include a reference list indicating where information was obtained, giving credit to the original author, to complete the 4-H member’s exhibit. This reference list should/might include web site links, people and professionals interviewed, books, magazines, etc. It is recommended this reference list be attached to the back of a poster or display board, be the last page of a notebook, or included as part of the display visible to the public.
