Fine Arts (Formerly known as Painting and Drawing)

Here are the requirements for this project:

ARTS & CRAFTS: Fine Arts

  1. Attach to project 4-H-618AW “4-H Craft Information Card” for description of work completed on the project.
  2. If multiple pieces make up the exhibit, a photograph of the complete exhibit should be attached to the exhibit so the total exhibit can properly be displayed.
  3. For safety purposes any craft exhibit that resembles a sword, knife, or look-a-like weapon, will be judged but will not be displayed.

Beginner - Grades 3, 4, 5

Intermediate - Grades 6, 7, 8

Advanced - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

 

PAINTING Requirements for ALL levels:

  1. Exhibit one framed picture
  2. 4-H member must fill out a record sheet
  3. Attach to project - 4-H-618A-W “4-H Craft Information Card” for description of work completed on the project.

Make a painting using tempera, oil, pastels, acrylic or watercolor - on canvas, canvas board or paper.

  1. If you use water colors, tempera, pastels, or water color, the picture is to be under glass and matted. If oils or acrylic are used, picture does not need to be under glass or matted.
  2. All pictures must be framed, ready to hang. Preferred method for county fair exhibition is screw eye and wire with back securely finished. As long as the exhibit is framed and ready to hang, no deductions will be made. Canvas art on a wooden frame is considered prepared for hanging provided that frame has a hanger.
  3. Suggested subjects:
  4. Seasonal Pictures
  5. Portrait
  6. Still Life
  7. Scenery or Landscape
  8. Own Choosing

Make a drawing using charcoal, pencil, ink, chalk, or oil pastels, or a combination - on canvas, canvas board, or paper.

  1. Attach to project - 4-H-618A-W “4-H Craft Information Card” for description of work completed on the project.
  2. The picture is to be under glass and matted.
  3. All pictures must be framed, ready to hang. Preferred method for county fair exhibition is screw eye and wire with back securely finished.
