Farming can be tough at times and can take a toll on mental health. The work related death rate in agriculture is SEVEN times higher than the national average according to the US Department of Labor.
Through a grant from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture/USDA, the Purdue Farm Stress Team created a short 30 minute free training for crisis call center employees or those who may wonder how to manage a crisis call from a farmer.
This training was developed to educate call center personnel on the unique challenges and best practice of responding to and supporting rural communities, particularly farm families.
