Producers invited to attend twilight tour of grazing technology

Producers are invited to attend Purdue University Extension’s twilight tour of grazing technology.

The tour will be hosted at the Feldun Purdue Agricultural Center (FPAC), 1117 State Route 458 in Bedford, Indiana, on June 25 at 5:30 p.m.

The event will cover various topics including an overview of FPAC, measuring individual forage intake of beef cattle, remote sensing technology to manage pasture forages, and evaluation of dietary fiber supplementation during early spring grazing on heifer reproduction.

The tour is hosted by Purdue University, sponsored by Vytelle and Enriched Ag, and supported by West Virginia University, The Ohio State University, the Lawrence County Cattlemen’s Association and C-Lock Inc.

“The work we’re doing is a cooperative venture with West Virginia University. We’re using a combination of advanced technologies in the grazing environment to evaluate practical solutions to producer challenges,” said Ron Lemenager, Purdue Extension beef specialist.

Grazing technology such as the C-Lock SmartFeed unit, the Enriched Ag imagery system and the Vytelle in-pen weighing system will also be showcased.

Burgers will be prepared for attendees by the Lawrence County Cattlemen’s Association starting at 5:30 p.m. To RSVP, contact Brad Shelton, superintendent of FPAC, at sheltonb@purdue.edu or 812-279-8554, by June 21.
