Chaperones Needed: at 4-H Summer camps

As everyone prepares for summer, I want to highlight an opportunity to engage with youth, and help our colleagues, as a chaperone at 4-H summer camp.

We currently have two 4-H summer camps that need more chaperones to meet supervision and safety standards. I am asking that all Extension educators and staff consider signing up to be a chaperone at one of these camps this summer.

The 4-H camp located in Milford that serves Lake, LaPorte, Porter, and Starke counties needs more volunteers between June 3rd – June 6th. Please reach out to Kelsey Guadarrama at ksajdera@purdue.edu if you are interested in learning more about this camp.

The 4-H camp located in Brookston that serves Areas 8 and 9 also needs help. The dates for that camp are between June 5th – 7th. If you would like to know more about this camp, please reach out to Megan Skiba at skiba0@purdue.edu.

If you can help at either one of these camps, please take a few moments to complete our Camp Interest Survey and choose one of those two options to get the process started.

Your commitment as a chaperone will help:

  • Ensure the success and safety of our camps.
  • Enhance the camp experience.
  • Foster community and connection.

Chaperones play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of quality and safety for campers. Without them our camps would not be possible.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. I hope to see everyone at camp this summer!

PDC session Proposals due May 10th

Extension Professionals, here is an opportunity to share with your Purdue Extension colleagues some of the great work that you have been doing over the last year or so! Proposals for Educational Presentations and Roundtable Discussions are being accepted through Friday, May 10 for the annual Purdue Extension Professional Development Conference (PDC)!

PDC will be held this year Wednesday, December 4 and Thursday, December 5, at the Tippecanoe County 4-H Fairgrounds in Lafayette. You can learn more about PDC on the conference website.

You may submit your proposal through this Qualtrics survey. Specific details about the proposals are available in the Call for Proposals.

PDC Proposals may be submitted on any topic; as an individual or as a team; by individuals who work in any Purdue Extension role; and by Purdue Extension partners. Think about submitting proposals for specific programs, resources, or research that you would like to highlight; tips that make you more effective in your role with Purdue Extension; and/or innovative strategies that you have utilized.

This year, we are also looking to offer two content tracks: one on Personal Development; and one on Program & Project Development. Further descriptions of these tracks are included in the Call for Proposals.

We look forward to receiving your PDC session proposals by Friday, May 10!
