Pike County Community Leadership Program Project
Community Leadership in Pike County is critical to developing our future leaders, strengthening economic development and driving quality of place initiatives.
Over the last few months, the Leadership group has been engaged in a transformative journey, learning essential skills and gaining valuable insights to become more effective community leaders. They have delved into various aspects of community leadership, building a foundation of knowledge and fostering personal growth. As part of the program, participants are hoping to complete a community project in conjunction with the Petersburg and Winslow Park and Recreation Boards.
Hornady Park is a valuable outdoor recreation area for our community. The City of Petersburg has installed new playground equipment at the park, and with your support, the Leadership group would like to revamp the Hornady Park Nature Trail. They want to contribute a butterfly garden outside the trail, clear trees from the path, and add signage and lights to bring attention to the trail entrance.
The Winslow Park & Rec Board have been working to improve the Winslow Park as well. They recently received a grant to install pickle ball courts, and they are adding soccer fields to the park for the middle school. Leadership participants were inspired by their commitment and wanted to contribute to their vision by providing a wooden walking bridge over the creek, signage for their new walking trail, and mulch and plants to foster a more welcoming and safe environment.
The 2024 Leadership participants are kindly requesting your sponsorship to help us achieve their fundraising goal. These funds will be used to purchase native plants for the parks, mulch, signage, solar
lights, and materials for the walking bridge. Both of these locations are an important and integral asset to their communities, and with your donation we can make it that much better!
Any amount received will be graciously accepted, and with your assistance, we know this project will be a success. With your help, we can complete a project that will benefit Pike County residents, and ultimately, create a lasting, positive impact. We would like to receive donations by April 30th, 2024. Please contact us at 812-354-6838 to discuss any questions you many have around your sponsorship.
