FARM TOY SCENE-County & State Fair Project

There may be one State Fair exhibit for this project.
A completed record sheet signed by your 4-H leader must be presented, along with your exhibit, at project check-in at the fair.
This project is divided into three levels according to the following breakdown:
Level 1 Grades 3, 4, & 5
Level 2 Grades 6, 7, & 8
Level 3 Grades 9 and above
General Rules
1. Farm Toy Scene exhibits will be judged according to the following criteria: artistic arrangement of exhibit; detail of exhibit; and realistic setting around toys.
2. Farm scene displays must be quilt on rigid wood (plywood).
3. Toy displays can be modeled in 1/64, 1/16, or any other scale desired.
4. Farm toys can be obtained at farm equipment dealers, department stores, farm stores, and farm toy shows. Farm toy shows will probably offer the largest selection of toys.
5. Landscape supplies can be obtained at hobby shops, craft supply stores, and items can be found in your back yard.
6. Check exhibit requirements for each level for size limitations.
Exhibit Requirements
Level 1-Exhibit a Farm Scene display, maximum size 3’ x 4’. Display must be built on rigid wood (plywood).
1. This division will be limited to field tilling/planting equipment (toy plows, disc/tiller, planter, tractor, cultivator).
2. Scenery items may be chosen from the following list: roads, lanes, trees, light poles with wires, fence rows, and a back drop may be used to set off field or fields.
3. Exhibit will be counted down a ribbon placing if items not listed above are included in exhibit.
Level 2-Exhibit a Farm Scene display, maximum size 3’ x 4’. Display must be built on rigid wood (plywood).
1. This level will be limited to any type of field work (tilling, planting or crop harvesting). Equipment may include any of the following: disc/tiller, plow (any type), planter, tractor, cultivator, combine, sprayers, grain wagon/cart, truck, hay baling equipment, hay wagon.
2. Scenery items may be chosen from the following list: roads, lanes, trees, fields, fence rows, light poles, back drop, creek, ponds, railroads and animals may be used.
3. Exhibit will be counted down a ribbon placing if items not listed above are included in exhibit.
Level 3-Exhibit a Farm Scene display, maximum size 4’ x 4’. Display must be built on rigid wood (plywood).
1. This level is open to create any type of farm, may include level 1 and level 2, plus building. Example: Farmstead (buildings, grain handling equipment, field work, harvesting) or farm equipment stores.
