4-H LIVESTOCK AUCTION
Friday, July 19th at 6:30 p.m.
NOTE: Auction checks will not be distributed the night of the Livestock Auction. Checks will be available for pick-up at the Clark County Extension Office only after verification of bank deposit.
An individual 4-H Exhibitor may sell a single animal from:
- Steer
- Market Lamb or Market Ewe that is shown in the market animal class. The ewe must meet minimum weight requirements.
- Barrow
- Rabbit Meat Pen (three animals) – Market pen is considered a single animal.
- Poultry Meat Class (two animals of same sex in either a broiler or roaster pen). – Meat class is considered a single animal. Poultry will also have the option of selling a single turkey, duck, goose, pigeon or quail.
- Meat Goat Wether or Market Goat Female that is shown in the market class. The female must meet minimum weight requirements.
Auction Information:
- Order of sale will be attained by drawing a number upon paying your selling fee of $20.00, plus you will be assessed a 2% of the premium received, which will be deducted from the 4-H member’s check.
- The $20.00 fee must be paid by 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 18th in the Clark County Extension Office. This fee covers expenses including, but not limited to, advertising, pre-auction social, transportation, photos, and check-off costs ($1.00 per swine, sheep, and beef).
- If the exhibitor’s auction fee is not paid by Noon, on Thursday, they will not be able to auction. No Exceptions!
- Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, and Breed Champions will automatically be first in each specie sale order. Only one Grand Champion Market animal will sell in the livestock auction for each species.
- Specie Sale Order for 2019: Beef, Dairy, Swine, Goats, Lama Product, Sheep, Poultry, Rabbits. This will rotate each year with the first species to sell first this year selling last next year.
- Animals sold are ineligible to show in any other county 4-H livestock shows, including State Fair, and must be purchased for intended slaughter only. Any swine, sheep and goats sold at the auction must be loaded on the sale trucks immediately after the auction.
- All animals entered in the auction must be market animals and properly withdrawn from all medication. No animals may sell if exhibited as a breeding exhibit.
- All animals for sale must have been weighed, tattooed, or tagged during the respective specie’s weigh-in time.
- Weigh-in order for all species will be designated by the barn committees.
Animals must comply with the following weights:
- Beef/Dairy: At least 700 lbs.
- Swine: 240-290 (animals over 290 lbs. may sell using the 290 lbs. as the base)
- Sheep: At least 70 lbs.
- Goats:
- Pygmy wether-minimum of 25 lbs.
- Fainting wether-minimum of 25 lbs.
- Boer & Dairy wethers- minimum of 40 lbs.
- Market Females- minimum of 40lbs.
- Rabbits: A pen of three animals must weigh at least 10.5 lbs. to sell at auction. Pens will be weighed at check-in.
- Poultry:
- Broilers- 3-5.5lbs each at day of weigh-in
- Roasters- 5.5-10lbs each at day of weigh-in
- Single Bird Approved by 4-H Educator and Barn Committee.
NOTE: These weight limits will be enforced due to base bidders’ expectations.
- Painting or use of decorative substances will not be allowed for show or sale (all animals).
- 4-H member must sell his/her own animal unless approved by the Livestock Superintendent.
- All 4-H members who intend to sell an animal at this summer’s 4-H Livestock Auction MUST have a YQCA card.
- Any withdrawals cannot be reinstated in the sale.
- ALL SALES of animals are final, as designated in the ring. No changes are permitted after animal leaves ring.
Absolutely no 4-H’er will be allowed to buy back auction animals for whatever reason.
Auction Rules are subject to change by the Auction Committee which are approved by the Clark County 4-H Corporation Board of Directors
COMPETITION IN 4-H LIVESTOCK/ANIMAL SHOWS AND SELLING IN THE 4-H AUCTION ARE CONSIDERED A PRIVILEGE, AND THE 4-H MEMBER MUST CONFORM TO RULES CONTAINED HEREIN
