Starke County 4-H Sheep Project
The 2018 Sheep, Goat, and Starter Calf ID day is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th at the Starke County fairgrounds from 7:00 am-10:00 am CDT.
All market animals—wethers and ewes—as well as yearling ewes you plan to exhibit at the State Fair are to be brought for weighing, tagging, and retinal scanning. Only those to be exhibited at the State Fair will be retinal scanned. You will have to make the decision at this time whether the ewe is breeding or market. All animals must be identified online by May 15th in 4HOnline at https://in.4honline.com
Required ID for State Fair:
- Market lambs 5 digit county tag and retinal image
- Commercial ewes 5 digit county tag or farm/flock tag and retinal image
- Registered ewes Tag from registration paper and retinal image
All 4-H sheep animals must be identified in the Indiana 4-H Online Animal ID system by May 15th. The online animal ID website is located at: https://in.4honline.com (where you enrolled in 4-H). We will provide you an Indiana 4-H Sheep ID Worksheet at the ID day that will include all the information you will need to complete the Identification of your goat animals on the 4HOnline Animal ID system. Instructions are included below.
The Starke County Animal Location Form will be available at Sheep ID day. This form will need to be completed on ID day. If your 4-H animal projects are in one location, you only need to fill out one form for all species. You must complete the form to exhibit your animal at the Fair.
A letter with more information about Sheep ID Day is located at the bottom of the page. The Animal Location form is also below along with instructions on how to properly identify your goat animals on 4HOnline at in.4honline.com.
General Livestock rules, Starke County 4-H Goat Project Rules, and Showmanship Rules are all available at the bottom of the page.
